HSC Chemistry Exam Paper Solutions

Why should I do past papers?

There’s only one way to score high marks in HSC Chemistry – practice!

You will only learn the specific expectations for how you structure your responses, what you should include and how well you can apply your theory knowledge to a practical application by practising consistently.

Re-reading and summarising notes effectively will only achieve so much, as many studies have shown, it’s consistent practice and testing that is the highest utility preparation.

How should I do past papers?

You may not feel confident enough to do past HSC papers under strict time conditions. This is ok.

  1. Start by doing parts of past papers with untimed and/or open book conditions.
  2. Review your responses against our solutions and explanations for that paper. Once you see what an ideal response looks like, you will understand what your response is lacking and how you can improve that for next time.
  3. This immediate feedback will help you construct a strong and practical understanding of how to approach HSC Chemistry questions, so you can progressively ease into stricter exam conditions.

Once you have had enough practice, you’ll be able to confidently sit any Chemistry HSC paper under the time pressures of exam conditions.
